Hello Greenlight
Re-imagining Provider Healthcare Trainings

Opportunity
Create a new kind of healthcare provider training experience that fits into the busy lives of providers and prepares them with skills to immediately apply in practice.

Outcome
Insights to develop innovative and educational provider trainings that support the soft skills to counsel with adolescents in a confidential, non-judgmental way.

Research & Design Methods
Shadowing, in-depth interviews, analysis and synthesis.

Role
Design Researcher

Our team began with desk research, analyzing analogous provider training examples spanning from contraceptive implementation trainings to articles on crafting behavior changes in organizations. We annotated the literature for moments of interaction, structure, and gaps in the trainings. We clustered the findings to determine patterns in the successes of trainings and scope our research.

Sampling Strategy
We sampled early career professionals, or professionals who have recently begun to provide sexual and reproductive health care, because they (1) received the bulk of their medical training in the past five to ten years; and, (2) are still actively learning and implementing new skills.

Shadowing
We conducted in clinic shadowing with OBGYNies, to understand how they were answering questions from patients.

In-Depth Interviews
We followed the shadow sessions with in-depth interviews and tours of healthcare provider’s phones and offices to determine the ecosystem of provider resources.

Next Steps
After our team analyzed and synthesized the field data, we delivered insights to Ci3’s policy team and Ci3 founder.
